A Short Cut to a state of Calm and Still

We encourage you, especially in the first few weeks of your Lightning Process learning, to step the Process out fully, giving your brain new things to do instead of those old unhelpful neural pathways.

Whether you’ve done the Lightning Process course or not, though, you can encourage your brain into new ways of doing things – and this could be done quickly, especially if you practice.

Short cuts to new more useful states are definitely encouraged – as long as they work.

One example of this is the following:

  1. Decide what state you are looking for. Calm and Still would be a possible example if you felt you were dûing anxiety
  2. Find a metaphor; for example, ‘I want to be calm and still like a lake’ (pick one that works for you, though)
  3. Feel like the calm still lake is within you or around you – get a real sense of it – and allow it to change your state

The first step (step minus one?) is probably to notice what unhelpful state you are in, and to know that you have a choice to be in a different one
