Do They Like Me?

Social situations? Work situations? Buying something in a shop or a cafe?

Is this the question at the top of your mind? “How can I make sure they like me?’

For lots of people this is their top priority in life; this is how they run their life; this is the question that matters

Many of us were brought up to be polite in all situations, to put others’ needs first, and to make sure we never caused a fuss if things weren’t ok for us.

You may lie awake at night wondering if you’ve said or done the wrong thing and upset people.

Don’t get me wrong…..I’m not suggesting you become a horrible selfish person instead…I think there’s a better way

Here’s a quick exercise you only need to do ONCE if you’re ready to start to change this

What has people-pleasing cost me?

For example: energy, sleep, not being authentic in my interactions

What would taking up my own space and letting people decide whether they like me or not give me?

For example: peace of mind, relaxation, just being me

What’s the worst that can happen if someone doesn’t like me?

How do I need to feel in myself – what state do I need to be in – to be present and allow others to decide if they like me or not – and survive it if they don’t?

For example: feeling physically grounded, taking up space, knowing I’m good enough

And if you’ve done the Lightning Process, you know what to do……..

what’s more important? People liking me or me maintaining my own space/boundaries/values?
