It’s been a hot Summer in the UK, and some people have found that tricky.
Additionally, many women of a certain age are dealing with hot flushes at any time of the year.
Here are two ways of cooling yourself down.
-
- Using your mind
Take a moment to settle
Cast your mind back to a time when you felt comfortably cool.
Maybe you came from a hot street into a cool inside space
or you had a cold shower
or you went outside on a frosty morning.
Wherever you take yourself to, feel as though you are in this situation right now – seeing what you can see; hearing what you can hear; feeling the ground, the air, the water.
Breathe in this feeling and allow it to gently cool you; give it a little time; give it a ‘cool’ colour too, if you like, and feel the colour gently drifting through you
2. Using your body
Sitali / cooling breath
A traditional yoga cooling breath.
-
- Sit comfortably and relax your shoulders.
-
- Curl your tongue into a tube (if you can) and gently inhale through the curled tongue.
-
- Close your mouth and exhale slowly through your nose.
-
- Repeat for 5–10 breaths.
Let me know how you get on
