In that interesting and unconscious recipe in your brain I wonder where you put yourself compared to the other important people and things in your life………
Sometimes our brains are not always helping us get what we think we want. They may well even be hindering us, although we may not be conscious of that. In NLP Coaching we are often helping clients change the (unconscious) recipes in their brain which aren’t helping them get where they want to go.
What does the list in YOUR head say about who’s the most important?
We would argue that – just like putting your oxygen mask on before you put on the baby’s oxygen mask on a plane – you need to first attend to your own need to be healthy and in good shape. That way you will be way more useful to others around you.
So, if you’re someone who’s particularly good at putting others first, at failing to invest in your own health and development, consider how the list in your head looks. What’s the order of things?
And ask yourself if investing in YOU, whether that involves time or money or other resources, might be a win-win for those around you.
And then consider what YOU need to move things forward….a walk in the woods, a swim, time to meditate, someone to listen while you work things out…whatever it is for you at this point in time.
